Silent Anger workshops are delivered by Reveal Theatre Practitioners in association with Staffordshire Police Community Resilience Team, South.
“Silent Anger” The Workshops are a derivative from Reveal Theatre’s Tour of their documentary / verbatim piece of theatre entitled “SILENT ANGER” which was created by Reveal Theatre in 2010. Silent Anger specifically targets young people from Year 9 through to College and University students. The theatre piece explored extremism through the words of people connected to extremist organisations whose beliefs, views and opinions aim to divide communities.
The workshops use the script to present the characters from the show as a way of engaging with young people to explore extremism within the political and religious arenas which can divide our communities. Young people can be vulnerable to extreme views and terminology without realising where these beliefs, myths and opinions originate from. The workshops explore the extremist narratives of the Far Right and Islamism that look to create environments that can lead to violent extremism and acts of Terrorism. The workshops also explore how international and domestic extremisms can impact on national and local agendas.
Reveal Theatre practitioners, through the genre of drama, explore topics such as British history, values and laws which connects all communities and therefore challenges extremist ideology.
